I love to cook. I’ve never had a problem with being the woman who is always in the kitchen. It’s not because I feel like I HAVE to be, but because I WANT to be.
Cooking from scratch was and is a dream of mine. One of my long term goals is to make or grow as much of my family’s food as I can. I look at my day to day cooking as a challenge. What can I make from scratch today? I’m always learning and trying new things and new cooking methods.
Cooking from scratch seems like a lost art these days. With packaged everything, no one stops to think “Should I be buying this?”. I stopped and asked myself that one day.
“Can’t I just make tortillas?”
“Can’t I learn how to make pasta?”
And now I LOVE it. I know that some people will say that cooking this way takes way too much time, but for me, knowing the ingredients my family is consuming is worth the extra time. Not to mention the money we have saved by me making a majority of everything from scratch.
These are the food items I cook from scratch:

-Turkey and Chicken Stock
-Breads (Whole Wheat, Pumpernickel, Rolls, Flat Bread)
-Soup/Chili (Tomato, Chicken Noodle, Wild Rice, Veggie, Minestrone, Potato)
-Diced, Crushed, and Pureed Tomatoes
-Breakfast Items (Pancakes, Muffins, Waffles)
-Guacamole, Hummus, Salsa
-Desserts (Cake, Brownies, Cookies, Cheesecake)
-Apple Cider Vinegar
