47 Non-Monsanto Seed Companies-The Blooming Mama
It’s that time of year!! Seed ordering time!!

I get so excited to order my garden seed for the year.

Before diving in, I want to set some things straight.

Just because a seed packet says “ORGANIC”, “NON-GMO”, “NATURAL”, or “HEIRLOOM” does not automatically make the seed company reputable.

I preach BIG on knowing where your seeds come from. A label is just that, a label. Is it better to plant an organic seed versus a treated seed? Yes, of course. But don’t be fooled into thinking you’re
1) Not supporting Monsanto/Seminis
2) Buying an Independent seed companies seed.

Many companies, although not OWNED by Monsanto, still sell Monsanto seeds.
Unfortunately for these companies, to get certain seeds or seeds that customers are asking about, they MUST purchase them from Seminis (Worlds Largest Seed Company purchased by Monsanto in 2005).
The seed name is owned by them and can not be purchased through another source.
You need to understand that it’s not just Monsanto owned or supplied companies you have to watch for, it’s Seminis seeds. Please also realize that a lot of these companies have NO other choice, because Seminis (Monsanto) owns a huge portion of the vegetable seeds in the US.

Seminis reportedly owns 40 percent of the U.S. vegetable seed market and 20 percent of the world market supplying the genetics for 55 percent of the lettuce on U.S. supermarket shelves, 75 percent of the
tomatoes, and 85 percent of the peppers, with strong holdings in beans, cucumbers, squash, melons, broccoli, cabbage, spinach and peas.

If the company you order from isn’t on my list, let me know! I would LOVE to add any independent seed companies to my list!
